Why join an Emotional Support Group?
Joining a support group can help when something significant has occurred in your life and you're finding it hard to manage the problem alone. You can meet and talk with others in a similar situation. Dealing with life change can feel very isolating when you're an expat in a foreign country . But there's relief in sight: everyone I work with says they felt tangible relief after attending their first support group.
IMPORTANT: I do not provide emergency or crisis services. If you need immediate assistance refer to the list below.
The English Support Group is free to attend. It's a drop-in group which means you can attend for one session or more - it's always completely up to you. The group is professionally facilitated by a counsellor (me: Scott). You must meet with me first for a short check-in and 'intake' meeting. Every member must agree to protect the confidentiality of every other member, before they attend the group.
Our group starts again on Sunday 19 Jan from 10am to 11.30am
Three things you need to know right now...
-
You are not alone - there are other going through similar things as well. Hearing from them can help you adapt more quickly and make positive decisions about your situation.
-
This is not your fault - everyone experiences problems in their lives and
-
It's ok to reach out for help - you are not weak for wishing to reach out for connection with others. In fact, this a really smart thing to do - they say a problem shared is a problem halved.
The most important thing you need to know is that finding others in a similiar situation to you can help you quickly adapt and process the information you've received or experience you're having.
There's no need to be alone with your problem.
